The complete list of Society Standard Bearers from 1911 is shown below.

To be appointed Standard Bearer, the Society requires the following criteria to be satisfied. Applications from prospective candidates must, ideally, be in the hands of the Society secretary no later than the 30th September of the preceding year. An application form can be obtained from the Society Secretary.

CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT OF STANDARD BEARER

• The applicant should be a Souter and have lived, and continues to live, overseas for a minimum of two years
• That failing the applicant should be a blood descendant of a Souter and have lived, and continues to live, overseas for a
  minimum of two years
• In the event of no applications from overseas, they should be a Souter or blood descendant of a Souter and have lived overseas,
  for a minimum of two years
• That failing they should be a Souter or blood descendant of a Souter and have lived away from the town for a minimum of two
  years

Notwithstanding the foregoing criteria, in reaching a decision we will take into account matters such as the anniversary of a relative having been a previous Standard Bearer, distance to travel, the suitability of applicant and any relevant personal circumstances which are brought to the attention of the members. Consideration may also be given, in acceptable circumstances, to the partner of someone meeting the above criteria.
