Common Riding 2026: Colonial Standard Bearer

The Selkirk Colonial Society made a historic appointment for 2026, selecting Frances Clementine Anderson of San Francisco as its first female Colonial Standard Bearer.

The Bussin Concert was very well attended and brother Dashiell, also our first ever Gentleman Busser, did a great job in support of Frances. Dad, Robert was Guest Chairman. Some 30 exiles were on stage to welcome the Standard Bearer and be introduced to the audience.

All seats were taken at the Reception where Poppie Waldie, Donald’s granddaughter, presented the new Standard Bearer with her Waldie Medallion.

On Common Riding day Frances carried the Society Flag with pride and her cast in the Market Place was flawless.

At the Foy the Flag was returned and both the Standard Bearer and Gentleman Busser received gifts on behalf of the Society from Pat Clapperton.

Congratulations to Frances and Dashiell for a job well done!
